LOS ANGELES — UC San Diego track and field competed at UCLA for the first time this weekend, participating in Friday's Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and Saturday's Jim Bush Legends Meet.
 
Miles Bennett won the men's high jump event. He was one of eight Tritons to finish in the top three of an event.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Friday's distance carnival saw two Tritons best their own school records in the 1,500m. Sylvana Northrop did so on the women's side with a time of 4:21.36, good for third in the event as the top collegiate finisher. Nathan Garderes then finished ninth in the men's event with a time of 3:47.19. Joseph Vargas was 12th for the Tritons, with his 3:48.27 good for second-best all-time at UC San Diego.
 
The Tritons had two top-three finishes in the women's 5,000m. Allyson Abandonato was second with a time of 17:06.22 and Dasha LeFaivre was third with a time of 17:19.00.
 
Javelin and hammer were also held on Friday. Kyle Wood was third in men's javelin with a mark of 60.45m.
 
Men's high jump was the first event of the day on Saturday. Bennett won with a height of 2.16m. He was one of three competitors to attempt that height and the only one to clear it, doing so on his third attempt. That mark also sees him in second all-time at UC San Diego.
 
The Tritons continued their success in the field as the day went on, with Feyi Olukanni finishing second in women's discus. Her 49.47m throw is also second-best in program history. Marcus Harris was then third in men's triple jump. He recorded a mark of 15.53m, moving him up to third on the school's leaderboard.
 
A school record was rewritten on the track as the men's 4x100m relay team of Jordan Agbettor, Brandon Orlow, Antrell Harris and Jack Mullen bested their own record set two weeks ago. They ran 40.21 to finish second in the event.
 
Another relay team, the women's 4x400m squad, also had a strong showing. Rachel Aguilar, Eden Enoru, Nicoletta Burkhardt and Jordyn Thomas were fifth with a time of 3:40.80, good for the program's third-best mark. Enoru also moved up to second all-time in the 100m after finishing eighth with a time of 11.74.
 
TRITON TIDBITS

• The Tritons have now won 24 events during the 2026 outdoor season and set six school records.
• Orlow is the only member of the men's 4x100m relay team who is not a freshman.

"I am really happy with the direction we are moving in at this point in the season," head coach Kim Graham-Miller said.
 
UP NEXT
UC San Diego's lone home meet, the 33rd Triton Invitational, is next weekend. The two-day event runs Friday-Saturday, April 3-4, at Triton Track & Field Stadium in La Jolla.
