Davis McDowell leads the field following Thursday's first two rounds of the Ram Masters Invitational. As a team, the Tritons are sitting in fifth place of 16 schools.
It was UC San Diego's first day of action in its 2025-26 season.
Colorado State University is hosting the 13th annual tournament at Fort Collins Country Club. The course is a par-70 and is playing at 7,234 yards.
McDowell is 6-under par after carding a 5-under 65 in the opening round and following up with a 1-under 69 in the second frame. He leads Colorado State's Alessandro Trenta by a single stroke. Four others are tied for third place at 3-under.Â
In round one, McDowell earned an eagle on the par-5, 575-yard first hole. The senior also carded four birdies and had just a single bogey. His second round featured five birdies and four bogeys.
Triton senior
Nathan Tseng can also be found among the top-20 on the leader board, sitting in 16th place at 2-over par. He fired rounds of 66 and 76.
The Tritons are also being represented by senior
Francis Catalano, junior
Justin Gill, and freshman
Hanjie Yu.
UC San Diego is 7-over par, tied with Weber State for fifth. The team shot 2-under in round one and 9-over in the second.
The host Rams are in front of the field at even par.
Players battled windy conditions in the second round with gusts up to 19 miles per hour.
