Tritons Fare Well in Season Opener

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The first event of the season featured several strong performances by UC San Diego women's rowing. The Tritons had three varsity 8 and two varsity 4 boats in action at the Hornet Invitational, hosted by Sacramento State.

Racing took place on Saturday and Sunday at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma. In addition to Sacramento State, the Tritons were joined on the 2000m course by Cal Poly Humboldt, Kansas State and Saint Mary's.

While the Tritons used multiple lineups across the two days, the V8+ boat combined to win all three of its races. The 2V8+, 3V8+ and V4+ boats also won one race each.

The weather featured a minimal current on both days. Saturday had crosswinds that topped out at 10mph, while Sunday's winds ranged from 3-6mph.
