LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego's
Eva Boehlke and
Bekzhan Yessengeldy swept the Big West Swim Athletes of the Week honors as announced by the conference on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
In their final home meet of the season,
Eva Boehlke scored 29 points for the gold and blue competing in three events. The sophomore swam the third leg of the 200 yard medley relay to start the meet and posted a 23.04 split time to propel her relay squad to first with a final time of 1:39.43 – only a second away from the program record. The Durham product went on to win her two individual events in the 100 back and 100 fly, posting a 54.87 and 54.20, respectively.
Wrapping up the regular season with a win, Triton newcomer
Bekzhan Yessengeldy represented the gold and blue in four events to help the men to victory over CBU on Saturday afternoon in La Jolla. Yessengeldy won the 200 breast with a time of 1:59.94 and went on to win the 200 IM with a time of 1:50.09. Finishing third in the 100 breast, Yessengeldy tallied a total of 23 points for the Tritons.
In the MSPF Conference, the Tritons tallied a total of 26 weekly award winners and now have tallied seven in the Big West. This Yessengeldy's first collegiate conference honors and Boehlke's first Big West weekly honor.

The Triton women will head across town to take on USD on Saturday, Feb. 1. The meet is set to begin at 12 p.m. on the San Diego campus.
