LA JOLLA, Calif.—After earning a bid to their first Big West Championship, UC San Diego women's volleyball had three Tritons honored with All-Big West accolades, as announced Tuesday by the conference.
Emily McDaniel highlighted the group with an All-Big West First Team nod.
Ava McInnes was named to the All-Big West Second Team and
Audrey Hollis earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.
McDaniel earns her third all-conference nod after being named to the all-freshman team in 2021 and honorable mention in 2021 and 2023. It is the fourth all-conference honor for McInnes who was named to the freshman team and honorable mention in 2021, second team in 2022 and first team in 2023. It is the first all-conference accolade for Hollis.
EMILY McDANIEL » ALL-BIG WEST FIRST TEAM
Emily McDaniel finished the regular season ranked second in total blocks (116) and blocks per set (1.14 per set). The senior middle blocker ranked 10th in the Big West in hitting percentage (.297), 13th in points (2.96 per set) and 18th in kills (2.48 per set).
McDaniel is currently second on the team with 336 total points and third in total kills with 253. She leads the team in blocks (116) and is just one shy of tying the Division I single season record for the Tritons. McDaniel is one of three Tritons to reach 100 blocks in the D-I era. She earned a spot on the UC San Diego Invitational All-Tournament Team (Sept. 1) and the Kristen Dickmann Invitational All-Tournament Team (Sept. 8) this season.
AVA McINNES » ALL-BIG WEST SECOND TEAM
At the end of the regular season,
Ava McInnes ranked 11th in the Big West in kills (2.93) and 12th in points (3.38 per set). The senior outside hitter set the UC San Diego all-time program record with 1,532 career kills, reaching the mark on her senior night. She becomes the first Triton competing her entire career in the Division I era to hold an all-time career record in any sport at UC San Diego. She now holds the program's career kills record (1,532), the single match kills record (31 vs Long Beach State; Oct. 14, 2022) and the second-place spot in single season kills (469; 2022).
McInnes finished the regular season leading the team in points (382) and kills (331) and ranked third in aces (24). She was a three-time UCU Athlete of the Week and earned a spot on the Erie Insurance All-Tournament Team (Sept. 15).
AUDREY HOLLIS » BIG WEST ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM
Audrey Hollis finished the regular season ranked fifth in the conference in assists (8.76 per set) and sixth in total assists (876). The true freshman setter started 24 of 29 matches for the Tritons this season and led the team in assists, ranks third in digs (183) and fourth in blocks (47.0).
Hollis was a two-time Big West Setter of the Week (Oct. 21 and Nov. 11) and UCU Athlete of the Week (Sept. 30) in her first season in La Jolla.
