LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego head women's rowing coach
Colin Truex has announced the Tritons' 2024 spring schedule. The Tritons will look forward to a strong slate of events with six races scheduled and the potential for more on the horizon.
"This year's race schedule will be a great challenge for us," Truex said. "Most of the events we are attending or hosting will allow us to race two or three times down the course which give us a great opportunity to really work a race plan, tweak lineups and adjust as we go through the season. The CAA Championships is having a heat/final format for the first time which again presents us with an opportunity to adapt and adjust from the first day of racing to the next. All told, we will be racing 13 2,000 meter races this season, perhaps our most ever! With that amount of racing we need to be in excellent shape which is what these next eight weeks are about. This team has shown all year that they are excited to work so I am very confident that they will thrive in this tougher racing environment."
The Tritons began their 2023-24 season back in November as they competed in the San Diego Fall Classic down in Mission Bay which featured a series of strong performances up and down the lineup. UC San Diego will begin the spring with a tune up of their own back in Mission Bay when they face off against the University of San Diego on February 24 at 6:00 a.m. at Mission Bay.
Beginning their regular season slate just two weeks later, the Tritons will welcome the LMU Lions down south as they will compete on March 9 at 7:00 a.m. down in Chula Vista at the Olympic Training Center. UC San Diego will then venture north for their first of two trips this spring to Northern California as they're set to face off at the Hornet Invitational on March 16 and 17 in Rancho Cordova hosted by Sacramento State.
Returning back home to start the month of April, the Tritons will then turn their attention to the 2024 San Diego Crew Classic on both April 6 and 7 down in Mission Bay for San Diego's premiere rowing event of the calendar year with expert and novice races set to take place across both days of competition.
The back third of UC San Diego's 2024 spring slate includes the program's home race where they will welcome teams from throughout the country to the Olympic Training Center for two days of races on April 20 and 21 from Chula Vista. The Tritons will then head back north to Rancho Cordova at the end of the month for the WIRA Championships hosted by Sacramento State.
Wrapping up their 2024 campaign, UC San Diego will head to the other side of the country when they compete at the 2024 CAA Championships in Camden, New Jersey on May 17 and 18 to conclude the spring calendar.
The 2024 Tritons women's rowing spring schedule is subject to change, and any updates or changes can be found on the team's website or via the team's social media channels.
