LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's water polo team was in the pool today in anticipation of this weekend's Triton Invitational at Canyonview Aquatic Center.
The season-opening tournament is slated for Saturday, Sept. 2 and Sunday, Sept. 3. Fourteen teams come together for 28 games over the two days.
The stacked field includes 11 squads ranked in the national top-20, including No. 1 Cal, No. 2 USC, No. 3 UCLA, and No. 4 Stanford.
Ranked 11th, UC San Diego plays a pair of games each day. Saturday, the Tritons kick off their season against Biola (10:30 a.m.) followed by a battle with top-ranked Cal (2:30 p.m.). Sunday, UC San Diego takes on Navy (12 p.m.) and concludes the tourney with a match-up against No. 2 USC (5 p.m.).
