Five Tritons Earn Academic All-District Honors

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Five Tritons earned accolades for their hard work both in the classroom and on the field on Tuesday, May 16. Seniors Sophia Real, Clarissa Reynoso, Keila Bosinger, and sophomores Alexa DeMarse and Morgan Eng were all named to the Academic All-District Team as announced by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). All five will now move on to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
 
Sophia Real is majoring in Economics and recently posted a 3.43 winter GPA with a 3.71 overall. Returning for her senior year from injury, Real is a four-year starter for the Tritons with a career .307 batting average and 35 runs batted in. Real has earned both Big West All-Academic recognition and CCAA All-Academic recognition.
 
Clarissa Reynoso is a two-time Big West All-Academic, studying Human Development from Muir College. In her time playing for the gold and blue, Reynoso averaged .243 at the plate with six home runs and 80 RBI. The five-year catcher recorded 964 putouts with 111 assists for a fielding average of 98.6%. In the winter quarter, the senior posted a 3.5 GPA with a 3.53 GPA overall.
 
Studying Business Psychology, Keila Bosinger, posted a perfect 4.00 in the winter quarter with a 3.76 GPA overall. Playing in the outfield, Bosinger finishes her time with a 97.8 fielding percentage with 235 putouts and 32 assists. The five-year Triton has only committed six errors in her career. At the plate, Bosinger averaged a .315 batting average with 215 games played to rack up 19 home runs and 102 RBI.

Alexa DeMarse is studying Political Science and posted a 4.00 in the winter quarter with a 3.80 GPA overall. DeMarse has played many positions for the Tritons in her two years, both as a catcher, outfielder, and designated player. The sophomore is averaging a .221 batting average at the plate with 10 runs batted in so far. DeMarse is a member of the Student-Athlete Athletic Council known as TAC. She is the softball representative for the team.
 
In the top 10 in the nation for stolen bases per game, Morgan Eng, was critical to the Tritons' 2023 season. The sophomore is studying Human Developmental Sciences and posted a 3.33 in the fall quarter with a 3.58 GPA overall. Eng has led NCAA Division I softball with a single-game high of six stolen bases since the beginning of the 2023 season. Finishing with the best batting average on the team, Eng posted a .291 batting average for her sophomore season. The leadoff batter scored 19 runs with 30 total bases and an on-base percentage of .354 with 35 stolen bases.
 
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Softball team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March. To be eligible, student-athletes must hold a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must have completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution.
 
The Tritons are in the midst of their third season of an NCAA-mandated four-year transition to Division I.
