FULLERTON, Calif. – Making their NCAA Division I postseason debut, 6-seed UC San Diego upset 3-seed UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday afternoon in a 6-4 result.
India Caldwell tossed a complete game with no earned runs allowed on five hits and three walks. The right-hander struck out seven Gauchos and held them scoreless until the sixth when some Triton errors allowed the four runs to score.
At the plate,
Alexa DeMarse went 2-for-4 with a run batted in.
Haley Garcia added her bat also going 2-for-4 with a run scored and another batted in. Both Tritons were critical on the defense side with Garcia laying out in center field to rob extra base hits and DeMarse smothering several hard hits to the hot corner.
