Tritons Set to Host Inaugural Triton Invitational This Weekend

UC San Diego women’s rowing will co-host the event with the UC San Diego men’s rowing team beginning Saturday

LA JOLLA, Calif.—UC San Diego women's rowing will host the inaugural Triton Invitational this weekend at the Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. It is a joint event hosted with the UC San Diego men's rowing team that will welcome teams from Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, and the University of San Diego. 
 
"We are very excited to host the first ever Triton Invitational down at the Elite Athlete Training Center this weekend," said head coach Colin Truex. "We are bringing in some very competitive teams and are looking forward to getting three solid races and enjoying a great weekend at the training center. This weekend has been circled on our calendar for a long time now and we are fired up that it is finally here. The goal is to improve our execution with each race and find the next gear that we've been working on at practice. The team is ready!"
 
The Tritons will race four boats in the two-day event, including the varsity eight, the second varsity eight, the varsity four and second varsity four. Saturday's races begin at 8:30 a.m. with the women's events scheduled until 9:40 a.m. Afternoon racing will take place for the women from 3 to 4:10 p.m. and Sunday will wrap up competition for the women from 9:30 to 10 a.m.
 
Rachel Cuneo will stroke the varsity eight, followed by Laine Bradley, Sabrina Koldinger, Sophia Gordon, Annica Ford, Kiera Cooper and Ciara Auran with Jessy Li in the bow and Bianca Tung as coxswain.
 
The second varsity eight will consist of Natasha Vallancey, Tala Ransweiler, Lily Feagler, Matti Key, Jess Harbison, Caroline Gross, Andi Ruttan and Jade Vasquez with Sabina Petersen as coxswain.
 
The varsity four will have Jacqueline Byun at stroke, followed by Jamie Press, Ameli Tucker and Peyton Fisk with Nicole Djordjevic at coxswain.
 
The second varsity four will consist of Laura Kemble, Audra Lawler, Kyra Allen and Clara Raedeker with Samantha Chan at coxswain.

About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of The Big West Conference in NCAA Division I. The 23-sport Tritons earned 30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships during its time in Divisions II and III and helped guide 1,400 scholar-athletes to All-America honors.
