LA JOLLA, Calif.—UC San Diego women's rowing will host the inaugural Triton Invitational this weekend at the Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. It is a joint event hosted with the UC San Diego men's rowing team that will welcome teams from Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, and the University of San Diego.
"We are very excited to host the first ever Triton Invitational down at the Elite Athlete Training Center this weekend," said head coach
Colin Truex. "We are bringing in some very competitive teams and are looking forward to getting three solid races and enjoying a great weekend at the training center. This weekend has been circled on our calendar for a long time now and we are fired up that it is finally here. The goal is to improve our execution with each race and find the next gear that we've been working on at practice. The team is ready!"
The Tritons will race four boats in the two-day event, including the varsity eight, the second varsity eight, the varsity four and second varsity four. Saturday's races begin at 8:30 a.m. with the women's events scheduled until 9:40 a.m. Afternoon racing will take place for the women from 3 to 4:10 p.m. and Sunday will wrap up competition for the women from 9:30 to 10 a.m.
