Marcos Milla Surpasses 23 Year-Old UC San Diego Record in 10000m Run

The UC San Diego track and field team tackles day two of the Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, Calif. — The UC San Diego track and field team continues with day two competition of the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific. 
 
While many Triton scholar-athletes put up new personal bests, the highlight of the day included Marcos Milla's performance in the 10000-meter run. Surpassing former UC San Diego alumnus, James Nielsen's record of 29:52.97 set in 2000, Milla put up a time of 29:41.57, breaking the 23-year-old school record.
 
Other standout performances came from Jenna Satovsky, Chelsey Romo, and Nicco Pompili, all setting new personal bests to conclude the day.

  • Marcos Milla broke a 23-year-old school record in the 10000-meter run, advancing on his previous personal best of 31:03.23
  • Jenna Satovsky set a new personal record in the 5000-meter run, beating her previous time of 18:21.7
  • Chelsey Romo set a new personal record in the 800-meter run coming in at 2:15.36, faster than her prior record of 2:17.1
  • Nicco Pompili broke his prior personal best in the 800-meter run by nearly two tenths of a second

UP NEXT
The UC San Diego Track and Field team will return tomorrow for day three of the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific. The event will continue to take place at Cougar Athletics Stadium for the final day of competition.
