LONG BEACH, Calif. — The UC San Diego Track and Field team concluded day two of the Beach Opener in Long Beach, Calif. with some impressive performances across various events.

In the men's division, the relay team for the 4x100-meter race finished third overall with a time of 41.71 seconds.
Kyle McCray showed his speed in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes finishing second overall with a time of 10.67 seconds and tying for second overall with a time of 21.67 seconds respectively.
Jack Wiseman took first place in the high jump with a jump of 2.14 meters.
Kyle Gibbs tied for first place in pole vault clearing a height of 5.10 meters, setting a new school record in the event. Additionally several athletes placed in the top ten in their events including
Nicco Pompili in the 1500-meter run,
Jake Heinlein in the 400-meter dash,
Nathan Garderes in the 800-meter run, and
Sebastian Garcia in the discus throw.

On the women's side,
Kate MacNaughton won the high jump with a jump of 1.61 meters while
Feyi Olukanni placed third in the shot put and fifth in the discus throw.
Isabelle Shepherd finished third overall in the 800-meter run and
Caitlin Billman placed second in the 3000-meter run.
Megan Mattson had a strong showing in the 100-meter hurdles finishing 12th overall while
Maxine Schultz placed sixth in the 400-meter dash and 15th in the 200-meter dash. Other top ten finishes included
Julia Di Silvestri in pole vault,
Anyssa Romo in long jump, and
Elyse Nordheim in triple jump.

Overall, the UC San Diego Track and Field team put up solid performances in the Beach Opener, with several athletes finishing in the top ten and
Kate MacNaughton and
Jack Wiseman taking home event wins in the high jump.Â

"We started out with personal records in the field events with
Kyle Gibbs jumping the second all time in the pole vault and hitting a huge PR and
Jack Wiseman with a life time best in the high jump (7'0), winning the High Jump" shared Triton Head Coach, Kim Graham-Miller. "Right now, we are just trying to get into a competition groove. We have a lot of work to do but I am excited to see how we continue to improve through the season."
