LA JOLLA, Calif. - The 16th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team begins its Big West season Friday at seventh-ranked Long Beach State.

The Tritons, who have won the last three meetings against The Beach, come in with a 5-11 overall mark. All 16 of those games were across four different tournaments. Most recently, UC San Diego competed at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational, hosted by UC Irvine. The team defeated Pomona-Pitzer and suffered losses against No. 5 Hawai'i, No. 11 Indiana, and No. 17 UC Davis.

Long Beach State brings a 10-5 record into the game. This past Sunday, The Beach, also playing at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational, downed No. 7 Arizona State and No. 9 Michigan while falling against No.1 Stanford and No. 5 Hawai'i.

HEAD COACH BRAD KREUTZKAMP
Brad Kreutzkamp is in his 14th season as head coach of the UC San Diego women's water polo program in 2023. In 13 seasons at the helm, Kreutzkamp has led UC San Diego to eight Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) championships and eight appearances at the NCAA Championship. He holds an overall record of 264-180 (.595) during his tenure and has been named the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) and WWPA Coach of the Year five times during this stretch.
