Tritons Unveil 2022 Non-Conference Schedule

LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego men's basketball head coach Eric Olen has announced the Tritons' 2022 non-conference schedule. The Tritons will play 12 games in November and December to prepare for Big West play, which begins Dec. 29 at Long Beach State. This season marks UC San Diego's third in its four-year reclassification to NCAA Division I.

"We've put together a challenging schedule this year," Olen said. "We are looking forward to testing ourselves against really strong competition in the early months to prepare our team to compete in The Big West."

UC San Diego will open its slate with three games at the newly renamed LionTree Arena. The Tritons will welcome Seattle U for the season opener on Monday, Nov. 7 before hosting Sacramento State on Nov. 12 as part of Tritons Weekend on campus. On Tuesday, Nov. 15, the California Golden Bears will head to La Jolla for a 7 p.m. contest – a rematch of last year's 80-67 Tritons victory in Berkeley

Following three games at home, the Tritons will begin a stretch of five straight away from La Jolla. UC San Diego heads to the Mid-Atlantic to play a pair of games in Annapolis, Md. (Nov. 18 at Navy, Nov. 19 vs. Youngstown State). The trip concludes with a return game against George Washington on Nov. 22.

UC San Diego completes its jaunt through the Eastern Time Zone with a post-Thanksgiving game at Eastern Michigan on Nov. 27.

The month of December sees the Tritons play road contests against a pair of local foes: at USD on Dec. 1 and at San Diego State on Dec. 20. The Tritons also play at Nevada (Dec. 14) and host home games against non-Division I Bethesda (Dec. 11) and Occidental (Dec. 17).

"This schedule presents a great opportunity for us to start season at home," Olen added. "We are looking forward to continuing our multi-year series with San Diego State and are thrilled to add San Diego to the schedule this year. Not only is that great competition for our team, but it's also good for the San Diego community for local teams to play one another."

The Tritons concluded their 2021-22 season with a record of 13-16 overall and 7-11 vs. Big West opponents. In its final home game, UC San Diego downed eventual Big West champion Cal State Fullerton, 81-76. The sharp-shooting Tritons led the Big West in three-point field goal percentage as well as made three-pointers last season.
