ELKHART, Ind. – The UC San Diego women finished sixth overall and the men finished fifth on the final day of the CSCAA National Invitational Championships. The Tritons sent 23 swimmers to the finals and recorded two new team records allowing UC San Diego to reach the podium five times on the final night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Juli Arzave placed second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:57.48; she dropped 2.60 seconds off her seed time. In the 200 yard breaststroke,
Katja Pavicevic recorded a new team record, posting a 2:12.19 time. The 400 yard freestyle relay team of
Jordan Phillips,
Miranda Renner,
Brittney Miles, and
Tina Reuter won second place with a time of 3:19.20.
For the men,
Ivan Kurakin placed second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:11.47 and dropped 2.70 seconds off his seed time. In the 100 yard freestyle,
Spencer Daily placed third, posting a 43.42 time.
Nathan Lee recorded a Triton team record in the 100 yard IM with a time of 50.17.
