Collett Announces 2023 Men's Rowing Schedule

LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego head coach Jeff Collett announces the 2023 men's rowing schedule as he takes on his first season leading the Triton coaching staff. The team plans to participate in seven regattas, including the IRA National Championships.

The Tritons did not participate in the 2022 fall season due to scheduling errors with the San Diego Fall Classic. "Missing the fall racing season appeared to work out in our favor as we have an exceptional group of young athletes that benefited greatly from a concerted recalibration period," says Collet. "This season we are looking to interject some high-level racing opportunities into our traditional racing schedule."

Kicking off the 2023 season is the California Challenge Cup on Mar. 4, taking place in Newport Beach.

The month of April begins with the San Diego Crew Classic stretching from Apr. 1-2. The following weekend, men's rowing then travels to Oakland for the Ebright Challenge (Apr. 8-9) hosted by the reigning national champions, Cal Berkeley. Returning home, the Tritons host the UC San Diego Invite (Apr. 15-16) in Chula Vista and then close out the month of April at WIRA (Apr. 29-30) in Folsom.

Collett is eager to take on his first schedule leading the Tritons as he shares, "This will help us get dialed in for the Western Sprints which acts as our qualifier for the IRA National Championship."

Finishing off the season is the Western Sprints (May 13) back in Folsom followed by the IRA National Championships (June 2-4) in Princeton, N.J.
