QUOTABLE
Distance Head Coach Nate Garcia
"We are happy with how our group competed," said Distance Head Coach Nate Garcia. "We saw individuals really push themselves. We didn't get all the times we were hoping for but that is the nature of this sport. Overall, really pleased with the race by Gabe. In conditions that were not ideal, he put himself in positions to be successful and stayed committed to his goals when the racing got tough. Our program's all-time 5K list is full of quality performances and for Gabe to enter the list in just his first year racing the event speaks volumes about his talent, skills and dedication."
Women's Head Coach Darcy Ahner
"Given this year's crazy schedule with the teams split up on different days and at different venues, it was a lot of fun at the UC Riverside Sprint Invite today," said Women's Head Coach
Darcy Ahner. "We had a number of personal bests. The men's 4x100 relay set the tone right out of the blocks, followed by a great 100 from
Nolan Crespo. Then,
Megan Mattson set a personal record in the hurdles. With so many meets against Big West opponents this year, our team is starting to feel at home in the new conference."
TRITON TIDBITS
- Mattson's mark in the 100 hurdles broke the all-time list by a one-hundredth of a second, removing Claudia Cox (14.52) from the 10-spot.

Return To Sport… Safely
In order for UC San Diego scholar-athletes to be permitted to return to training and competition safely and within federal, state, local and university guidelines, the athletic department implemented a number of measures designed to complement and enhance the university's highly-successful Return To Learn program. Notable actions include being physically distanced when practical, including during out-of-season training sessions; wearing masks, except when undergoing physically strenuous exercise; and maintaining proper hygiene. Athletes, coaches and staff are testing at a higher frequency than the campus population, teams adhere to CDC, NCAA and Big West Conference guidelines and department officials participate in regular meetings with conference and university-affiliated physicians and the UC San Diego emergency operations staff.
