SPOKANE, Wash. — UC San Diego track and field competed in its second indoor meet of the season this weekend, traveling to Washington for the Riverfront Invitational. Three Tritons won events and seven set school indoor records.

The two-day invitational was contested at The Podium in Spokane, Washington. The Tritons were one of 20 schools from five states at the event.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Makena Bailey started Friday's action with a win in the high jump, finishing with a mark of 1.73m. The Tritons then got two wins in the long jump.
Tamara Aimufia won the women's event with a jump of 5.82m, and
Kenneth Tucker won the men's event with a jump of 6.98m.

Tucker's long jump mark is a school record. The sophomore then set another school record on Saturday in the triple jump, winning that event with a top result of 14.73m.

Friday's events featured three other program records, one in field and two on the track.
Feyi Olukanni set the first with a 15.47m effort in the weight throw.
Keani Neuhs then broke the 800m record with a 2:16.69, followed by a record in the 200m as
Brandon Orlow ran 21.38.

On Saturday, the Tritons set their final three school records of the weekend on the track.
Charis Wondercheck ran 8.76 in the 60m hurdles. The last two then came in the 60m dash, with
Lauren McBride running 7.64 on the women's side and
Brycen Tablit running 6.75 on the men's side.

TRITON TIDBITS
- Bailey has now won the high jump event at both indoor meets this season.
- Kyra Terry made her collegiate debut in Spokane.
- The Tritons had 21 scholar-athletes in action. This is the second year that UC San Diego has sponsored an indoor track and field program.Â
UP NEXT
The final indoor meet of the season will be next weekend as the Tritons return to Reno, Nevada, for the Battle Born Classic Feb. 13-15.
