LA JOLLA, Calif. — A pair of Triton swimmers were recognized by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) for their efforts in the water during the Tritons' season opener at USC over the weekend. Seniors

Tina Reuter were recognized as the conference's swimmers of the week.

Tina Reuter (Carmichael, CA) swam MPSF season-bests of 4:21.33 in the 400 IM and 2:01.60 in the 200 IM, along with a 2:00.37 in the 200 back at the season-opening USC Invitational (Oct. 15-16). She also anchored the 400 medley relay in 49.83, leading to an MPSF season-best relay (3:42.83). This is the second career MPSF weekly award for Reuter.

Ivan Kurakin (Khabarovsk, Russia) swam a National Invitation Championship Automatic Qualifying time and NCAA 'B' cut, and broke the school record in the 500 free in 4:23.32, as the Tritons opened their season at the USC Invitational (Oct. 15-16). He also recorded a 1:37.08 in the 200 free, a 1:47.82 in the 200 back, and led off the 400 free relay with a 44.63 to lead a school record 2:57.29. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Kurakin.

After nearly two years, Reuter, Kurakin and the Tritons will return to Canyonview Aquatics Center on Saturday for the Tritons' home opener. UC San Diego will host CMS at 3:30 p.m.
