LA JOLLA, Calif. – The No. 5/1 UC San Diego men's and women's swimming and diving team cruised past Pomona-Pitzer on senior day. The men took down the Sagehens 192-100 while the women won with a score of 178-117.
MEN
The men opened up the meet with a win in the 200-yard Medley relay with a time of 1:31.77. Seniors Edgar Chain and
Sawyer Farmer, along with
Tyler James and
Lance Freiman, made up the winning squad.
Several seniors had strong showings in their final home duel meet. Chin picked up two more wins in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke with times of 56.78 and 2:06.09.
Jack Spitser touched first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:03.98. Farmer placed second in the 50-yard freestyle while
Derek Fordham added a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly.
Spencer Daily won all three of his events and swam B-cut times in the 50 – and 100 -yard freestyle as well as the 100-yard butterfly.
Hayden Johnson came up on top in both the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle.
Kyland Parenti continued to shine for the divers and won the 3-meter with a score of 298.65 and the one meter with a score of 254.10.
WOMEN
Relay team of
Jordan Phillips,
Grace Murphy,
Miranda Renner and
Cody Hargadon won the first relay of the day in the 200-yard medley relay. Their time of 1:42.99 was .07 seconds off of breaking the pool record.
Both seniors had good performances in their final home duel meet.
Kaitlyn Ritchey came in second in the 1000-yard freestyle.
Amanda Rios was on the third place 200-yard medley relay team.
Renner won the 50-yard freestyle for the first time this season with a B-cut time of 23.86. Hargadon, Murphy and Rios finished right behind her.
Julissa Arzave and
Tina Reuter would pick up two individual wins on the day. Reuter would place first in the 400-yard IM and 200-yard backstroke while Arzave would take gold in both the 500- and 1000-yard freestyles.
Jasmyn Chang would come out on top in both diving events, winning the 1-meter with a score of 369.52 and 3-meter with a score of 225.5.
UP NEXT
The Tritons are back in action on February 1 when they travel up to California Baptist for a duel meet at Lancer Aquatic Center.
