SAN DIEGO - The UC San Diego women's rowing team wrapped up action at the 43rd San Diego Crew Classic Sunday with a pair of boats racing in finals on Mission Bay.
In the Collegiate Varsity 4 Petit Final, UCSD placed fourth with a time of 8:08.99. Tennessee clocked a 7:50.44 to win and was followed by Gonzaga (7:54.64) in second and Sacramento State (8:05.09) in third. The Tritons finished in front of Kansas State (8:21.00) and Saint Mary's (8:23.68).
UC San Diego's Novice 8 crew placed sixth in the Collegiate Grand Final (final-only race), crossing the finish line with a time of 8:08.73. Texas Austin posted a winning mark of 7:10.64, 16 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
It was the second-straight year that the Tritons competed at the Collegiate level, taking on primarily NCAA Division I opponents over the two-day regatta.
UCSD hosts San Diego State, April 15 on Mission Bay.
