LA JOLLA, Calif. - The No. 17 UC San Diego women's tennis team dropped its final home match of the season Sunday, falling by a 6-3 score to No. 22 Cal State L.A. at Northview Courts.
UCSD had a 2-1 lead following doubles play, but CSULA won five of six singles matches to earn the victory.
The 14th-ranked Triton pairing of Britta Mosser and Kyra Scott defeated Sonia Landeros and Nozomi Matsuoka, 8-3, in the top doubles spot. It was the 14th win of the season for the duo, which is 7-3 over their last 10 contests.
Also winning in doubles were Jasmine Hosseini and Nousha Nowamooz, who rolled to an 8-2 topping of Elizaveta Sokolova and Victoria Vo at No. 3. It was the 12th win of the year for Hosseini and Nowamooz, the second most on the team behind Mosser and Scott.
Mosser came away with the Tritons' only singles win as she defeated Landeros, 6-2 and 6-3, at No. 2. The sophomore from Malibu leads UCSD with 16 victories.
The Tritons fell to an even 12-12 with the loss, while the Golden Eagles improved to 9-8. On Feb. 28 in Los Angeles, UCSD took a 6-3 win against CSULA.
UC San Diego concludes its season at San Diego State on April 17 at noon.
