LA JOLLA, Calif. - The No. 16 UC San Diego men's tennis team fell, 5-4, to Point Loma on Friday at Nortview Courts. The Tritons conclude their regualr season with a 12-9 overall record.
UCSD won one of three doubles contests before taking three singles matches.
Point Loma took the first point of the day with a win in No. 3 doubles. But the Tritons answered back as Justin Zhang and Eric Tseng defeated Martin Blaho and CJ Erion, 9-8, in the No. 2 slot.
Andrew Malozsak, playing in his first match of the season, beat Jack Alston, 6-4, 6-2, in the No. 6 slot to give the Tritons their first singles win. UCSD then tied up the match with Horea Porutiu and Zhang taking back-to-back victories. Portiu took down Daniel Milliken 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 3 spot and Zhang defeated James Tenbroeck 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4.
Unfortunately, the Sea Lions pulled ahead winning in the No. 2 and No. 1 spots for the 5-4 victory.
