The UC San Diego men's and women's track and field teams head to Aliso Viejo on Saturday, Feb. 14, to open their 2015 season at the Soka Peace Invitational. The meet is hosted by Soka University at its Athletic Complex/Field, with the first field events starting at 10:00 a.m. Action on the track starts an hour afterwards at 11:00 a.m.

THE COMPETITION
Along with the Tritons, 11 other schools will be competing at the Soka Peace Invitational. Those being Cal State San Marcos, Westmont, Soka, Master's, Biola, Vanguard, Concordia (CA), Marymount, Santa Barbara City College, West Los Angeles College, and Golden West College.

MARQUEE HOME SCHEDULE
UCSD will host four meets at Triton Track & Field Stadium in 2015. The first being the All-UC Championship on Saturday, March 7, welcoming two fellow University of California schools in UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara. UCSD will stay home the following weekend for the San Diego Collegiate Challenge, with the majority of the competing schools being from San Diego County. The Tritons will host the newly named California Collegiate Invitational (formerly known as the Cal-Nevada Invitational) on April 4 and close the home schedule with the two-day Triton Invitational on April 24-25.

2014 CONFERENCE RUNNER-UP
On the women's side, UCSD is coming off of a fifth consecutive second place finish, all behind Chico State, at the Calfironia Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships. The Triton men finished runner-up in the conference as well, with Chico State becoming 11-time defending conference champions.

RETURNING EXPERIENCE
UCSD returns five athletes that qualified for last year's NCAA Championships in Anthony Capitulo, Dan Golubovic, Carlos Bojorquez and All-Americans Sabrina Pimentel and Nash Howe. Howe and Capitulo qualified in the javelin, Pimentel in the 800, Bojorquez in the 1500 and Golubovic in the decathlon.

The Tritons also return conference 10000 meter champion Paige Hughes, who had a stellar cross country season earning All-CCAA and All-West Region honors.
