Tritons Host No. 14 Loyola Wednesday Before Heading to Phoenix

Tritons Swept by No. 12 Pacific

LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC San Diego hit a dismal .066 and was swept by No. 12 Pacific Friday in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) action at RIMAC Arena.

Scores were 25-23, 25-21 and 25-18. UCSD dropped to 3-10 overall and 1-7 in the MPSF, while Pacific improved to 5-8 and 3-5.

The Tigers used 14 blocks to help hold the Tritons to their second-worst attack percentage of the season. UCSD totaled 28 kills and 23 errors in 76 attacks, while Pacific hit .289 with 40 kills and 16 errors in 83 swings.

The Tritons did hold an advantage in reception percentage, .934 to .895.

Pacific's Florian Gornik led all players with 12 kills. Sean Daley had eight blocks. Javier Caceres posted a match-high eight digs.

Carl Eberts had seven kills, three aces, seven digs and four blocks - all team-highs for UCSD. Cheyne Hayes and Fred Stahl each contributed six kills.

UCSD hosts No. 4 Stanford Saturday at 7 p.m. UCSD students are admitted free with a valid ID.
