LA JOLLA, Calif. ? The UCSD women's tennis team took to the courts for their 3rd match in four days against visiting CCAA opponent Cal State L.A. and beat the Golden Eagles 8-1 for their 44th consecutive league win. The Tritons are now 6-5 on the season and 4-0 in the CCAA.
In doubles, Triton freshman Natalie Varnay and Taskeen Bains cruised to an 8-2 victory over Ioana Comsa and Bojana Ducanovic. UC San Diego gathered a win from another freshman combo of Kimmi Dao and Valerie Tang as they beat Krishana DeSilva and Linda Majzlikova 8-1.
Dao continued her return from injury, playing the No. 3 singles match in addition to her doubles match. She put together a solid outing and defeated Majzlikova 6-3, 6-1.
The Tritons swept the singles matches. Bains continued her hot streak winning again 6-2, 6-0 over Jennifer Avila.
The Tritons receive a little break after their strenuous week and return to action with a Saturday home match on March 15 at 11 a.m. against the University of Akron Zips, a Division I team, which post a record of 3-4.
