LA JOLLA, Calif.  ? The 8th-ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team won two games against Western Water Polo Association opponents, defeating UC Santa Cruz 19-8 and returning in the afternoon to defeat Pomona Pitzer by a 13-6 score.  In the game against the Banana Slugs, 12-of-14 Tritons scored, led by Daniel Garcia with five goals.  Garcia would score four more times against the Sagehens for nine total scores on Sunday.  With the wins, UCSD improves to 16-9, while UC Santa Cruz drops to 6-13 and Pomona Pitzer falls to 7-14.  UCSD is back in action next week when it travels to UC Davis on November 11 at 6:00 p.m.

In the win over UCSC, UCSD scored seven goals in the first quarter and five more in the second quarter to lead 12-3 at halftime.  In the second half, Matt Kerchner scored his first goal of the season in the third quarter as 12 different Tritons scored.  Goalie David Morton finished with four saves and Daniel Ramirez also saw action recording a save.

Against Pomona Pitzer, the Tritons jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter as Daniel Garcia scored three times in the quarter, while Adnan Jerkovic, Jeff Hunt and Chance Vermilyea also scored in the first.  Pomona Pitzer outscored the Tritons 3-1 in the second quarter and the score was 8-3 UCSD at halftime.  The Tritons outscored the Sagehens 3-2 in the third period and 2-1 in the final quarter for the win.
