3rd-Ranked Tritons Remain Unbeaten with 1-0 Victory at BYU-Hawaii

LAIE, Hawaii - The 3rd-ranked UC San Diego women's soccer team remained unbeaten in 2007 with a narrow 1-0 victory over host BYU-Hawaii on Tuesday afternoon on the island of Ohau. With the victory the Tritons improve to 3-0-0 on the year while dropping the Seasiders to 0-2-1.

Junior midfielder Natasha Belak-Berger, who netted one goal in each of the Tritons first two contests, scored her third game-winner of the season, beating BYUH netminder Becky Ploeger in the 14th minute for the only tally of the contest. Belak-Berger has surpassed her season goal total from last year (2) while also improving her career total to 13.

UC San Diego junior goalkeeper Jessica McGovern posted her second shutout in as many matches, making two saves while lowering her goals-against average to 0.33 on the year.

Head coach Brian McManus' squad will continue its current four-match road trip with two more this weekend, traveling to Cal State San Bernardino on Friday and Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday. Those two matches will mark the beginning of the 2007 CCAA schedule.

The Tritons, who are the preseason favorite to win the league according to the coaches' poll, have won six of the last seven CCAA titles including each of the last two.
