LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Charlotte Wilfert has been named The Big West Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Friday afternoon by the conference office.
Wilfert made six saves and posted her ninth clean sheet of the season as the Tritons blanked visiting UC Santa Barbara, 1-0, in the season finale at Triton Soccer Stadium Thursday night. Wilfert led The Big West in saves (85) and saves per game (4.47) during the regular season. Her nine shutouts tied for second most in the conference and established a new UC San Diego record for clean sheets in a Division I season.
Wilfert is one of four Triton goalkeepers to earn Big West Defensive Player of the Week accolades since UC San Diego joined the conference in 2021, and the second Triton to be honored with a Big West weekly award this season. Teammate
