LA JOLLA, Calif. ? The 15th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team lost to 11th-ranked Arizona State 9-8 on Saturday night at Canyonview Pool. UCSD was down 8-6 but rallied back to tie the game at 8-8 on a goal by Britta Nordstrom. A late UCSD turnover hurt the Tritons, as Arizona State scored the winning goal with :42 left. Senior Sarah Bajorek led the Tritons with two scores, while Sydney Gstettenbauer also scored twice. The Sun Devils were led by Katie Hedley with three scores. UCSD seniors Natalie Hockett, Sarah Bajorek, Miho Umezawa, Nordstrom and Lauren Woods were honored before the start. The Tritons are back in action on April 27-29 at the WWPA Championships in Santa Cruz.

UCSD's Gstettenbauer and Bajorek scored for the Tritons in the first quarter and UCSD trailed 3-2 after one.
ASU took a quick 4-2 lead, before Bajorek scored again to make it 4-3 at the 5:30 mark. ASU scored on the very next possession to lead by two goals again, but Umezawa (4:36) and Bocian (4:01) tied the game 5-5 at the half.
ASU's Hedley and Bower scored at the 6:21 and 4:34 marks to push the Sun Devils back up by two. After a Gstettenbauer goal, ASU's Hedley scored her third goal of the game, giving ASU a two goal lead again.
In the fourth quarter, Hockett scored at the 6:54 mark, cutting the deficit to one. Nordstrom scored her goal with 2:30 left to tie the game four the fourth time on the night. ASU's Lawlor scored the game-winner with :42 left, 9-8 ASU.
