DAVIS, Calif. ? The 15th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team split its two games on the final day of the Davis Shootout on the UCD campus. The Tritons squared off against the 9th-ranked UC Davis Aggies and fell by a 6-1 score. The game was close through the first three quarters as the Aggies held a 3-1 advantage. UCD pulled it out in the fourth, scoring three unanswered goals, giving the Aggies the win. In UCSD's second game of the day, the Tritons defeated Cal State San Bernardino 6-2. UCSD jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second quarter and cruised to the win. Rebecca Gearty and Judy Emaus scored two goals apiece in the win. UCSD is back in action when it hosts Chapman at 4:00 p.m. on April 5 at Canyonview Pool.
Game one
UCD's Raycraft scored the only goal of the first period with 3:31 remaining.
UCD called on Raycraft again in the second, before Sarah Bajorek got the Tritons on the board with :53 left, making the score 2-1 UCD at halftime.
In the third quarter, the only goal game from Katherine O'Rourke with 3:21 remaining, extending the UCD lead to 3-1 through three.
UCD scored at the 6:24, 4:31 and 2:47 marks to take the game 6-1.
Game two
UCSD's Gearty, Lauren Woods and Emaus scored in the first quarter, giving the Tritons a 3-0 lead. Miho Umezawa and Gearty scored again with just under five minutes to play before half, and UCSD had a 5-0 lead. CSUSB would climb within 5-2 with 5:43 left in the third period, but would not score the rest of the game. Emaus scored the Tritons' final goal with 5:54 remaining in the game for the 6-2 win.
