SANTA BARBARA, Calif. ? The 15th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team defeated Marist 12-3 on Friday afternoon at UCSB. With the win, the Tritons improve to 6-7 on the year and play in the UCSB Mini-Tournament on Saturday. UCSD will face Redlands at 9:00 a.m. and host UC Santa Barbara at 1:30 pm. In the win over Marist, Natalie Hockett scored four times, while Judy Emaus and Sarah Bajorek scored twice apiece. Also scoring for UCSD was Liz Hahn, Lauren Woods, Sydney Gstettenbauer and Stephanie Bocian.
UCSD's Bajorek and Hockett scored in the first quarter, giving UCSD a 2-1 lead after one.
UCSD scored three more times in the second frame on goals by Emaus and two by Hockett to lead 5-2 at the intermission.
With UCSD ahead 7-2 through three, the Tritons pulled away with five scores in the fourth quarter as Bajorek, Hahn, Hockett, Gstettenbauer and Bocian all added goals.
