LA JOLLA, Calif. ? The 16th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team cruised to a 12-4 win over Western Water Polo Association opponent Colorado State on Thursday evening at Canyonview Pool. UCSD led 7-0 after the first quarter as Sarah Bajorek scored three of her four goals in the quarter. Judy Emaus scored two of her four goals as well in the first. Kim Hockett played in goal in the first half, recording three saves. Markayla Quane played in goal in the second half and saved two shots while allowing just one score. Nicole Hermann, Miho Umezawa, Natalie Hockett and Sydney Gstettenbauer also scored for the Tritons.
After the Tritons took a commanding 7-0 lead through one, Colorado State finally got on the board in the second on a shot by Shannon Kohl. UCSD came right back with two more scores, one by Bajorek and another by Gstettenbauer to and would lead 9-3 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Natalie Hockett scored along with Emaus to give UCSD an 11-4 lead through three.
In the fourth, Emaus scored her fourth goal of the game to wrap-up the scoring.
UCSD is back in action on Friday night with a match-up against No. 2 UCLA at 6:00 p.m. in Canyonview Pool.
