The 14th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team split for the second consecutive day at the UC Davis Shootout. UCSD lost its opener on Sunday 12-11 in overtime against No. 20 Santa Clara. Nicole Hermann and Natalie Hockett led the way with three goals apiece. UCSD then regrouped to down Colorado State 14-6. Hermann and Flynn LaRochelle led the way with three scores apiece. Six other Tritons netted goals against the Rams. UCSD is now 14-13 this season.
Against SCU, while Hermann and Hockett scored six combined goals, Sarah Bajorek also added two goals. Britta Nordstrom, Flynn LaRochelle and Michelle Perkins also scored. Kim Hockett made a team-high six saves in goal.
In the 14-6 win over Colorado State, UCSD led 2-1 after the first quarter. The Tritons would score seven times in the second quarter to gain control of the game and lead 9-3 at the intermission. While Hermann and LaRochelle scored three apiece, Lauren Woods and Sydney Gstettenbauer scored twice each and Bajorek, Kirsten Frazer, Judy Emaus and Hockett also scored.
UCSD is back in action on Wednesday, April 12 when it hosts Champman at 4:00 p.m. in Canyonview Pool on the La Jolla, campus.
