The 17
th ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team finished the two-day Michigan Tournament with a 2-2 record. On day two of the tournament, UCSD led No. 9 Michigan through three quarters but fell 8-6.
Michelle Perkins and Judy Emaus scored two goals apiece. The Tritons finished the day with an 18-1 trouncing over Slippery Rock.
Sarah Bajorek and
Natalie Hockett scored three times each as 12 different Tritons netted goals.
Against Michigan, UCSD was tied with Michigan 2-2 after the first quarter and 4-4 at the intermission. The Tritons outscored UM 2-1 in the third quarter to take the 6-5 lead. UCSD was outscored 3-0 in the final quarter to lose 8-6.
In the victory over Slippery Rock, Bajorek and Hockett scored three apiece while Emaus and Elizabeth Hahn scored twice each. Nicole Afflerback, Lauren Briskin, Bridgette Bugay, Kirsten Frazer, Sydney Gsttenbauer, Nicole Hermann, Flynn La Rochelle and Lauren Woods all scored.
UC San Diego is back in action on Friday, February 10 when it hosts No. 13 Hartwick at 6:00 p.m. in Canyonview Pool.
