RIVERSIDE, Calif.- The UC San Diego men's volleyball team fell to the top-ranked NAIA school in Cal Baptist 26-30, 20-30, 24-30 on Saturday night at Van Dyne Gym. The loss drops UCSD to 1-10 while the Lancers improve to 6-5. UCSD was led by Mike Reuter and Russ Hardy with seven kills apiece. Chris Sayers and John Mark Wendler added four kills apiece and Brooks Dierdorff had 26 assists. UCSD outblocked Cal Baptist 11.0 ? 8.0.
UCSD was unable to produce an upset after falling behind by two games like the Tritons managed last season, coming from behind to win in five games.
There were a combined eight ties and seven lead changes in the three games.
UCSD is back in action on Thursday, February 16 when it hosts BYU at 6:00 p.m. in RIMAC Arena.
