UC San Diego placed 76 scholar-athletes on The Big West Spring Academic All-Conference Team, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Â
The Spring Academic All-Conference Team is composed of scholar-athletes from baseball, beach volleyball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, men's volleyball and women's water polo. UC San Diego sponsors all but beach volleyball and women's golf.
Â
To be eligible, scholar-athletes must carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00, be at least a sophomore academically with one full year at the institution prior to this season and compete in 50 percent of their team's contests. Track and field athletes who do not compete in 50 percent of their team's contests can also be eligible by competing in the Conference Championship.
Â
Triton track and field junior
Jeremy Frank was also highlighted for his perfect 4.0 GPA. Frank is majoring in computer science.
Â
The Big West recognizes individuals academically per season – fall, winter and spring – for all conference-sponsored sports. The Tritons had the most honorees on the
Fall and
Winter Academic All-Conference Teams.
