IRVINE, Calif. – UC San Diego placed 53 scholar-athletes on The Big West Fall All-Academic Team, as announced Thursday by the conference office. The 53 honorees tied UC Santa Barbara for the most among Big West institutions. The Fall All-Academic Team is composed of student-athletes from men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, and men's water polo teams.
To be eligible, scholar-athletes must carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00, be at least a sophomore academically with one full year at the institution prior to this season and compete in 50 percent of their team's contests.
Five Tritons were highlighted for their perfect 4.0 GPA: women's cross country's
Jenna Satovsky, women's soccer's
Natalie Abel and
Lana Gilligan, men's soccer's
Nolan Premack, and men's water polo's
Brendon Fezzey.

About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program has begun a new era as a member of The Big West in NCAA Division I. The 24-sport Tritons earned 30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships during its time in Divisions II and III and helped guide 1,400 scholar-athletes to All-America honors. A total of 84 Tritons have earned Academic All-America honors, while 38 have garnered prestigious NCAA Post Graduate Scholarships.
