LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego track and field turned in a standout weekend on its home track, hosting the 33rd Triton Invitational and delivering a series of record-breaking and top-tier performances.
The Tritons claimed three event victories across the meet, headlined by dominant showings in both track and field events. UC San Diego also saw two school records fall, 22 marks land in the program's all-time top 10, and 12 new Big West qualifiers emerge over the two-day competition.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego made an immediate impact with its event winners. Sylvana Northrop led the charge on the track, winning the women's 5,000 meters in 16:15.69. Her performance not only secured the victory but also reset her own school record while establishing a new stadium record.
In the field, Makena Bailey topped the women's high jump with a clearance of 1.73m. Miles Bennett matched that success on the men's side, winning the high jump at 2.14m.
The Tritons added another school record in the throws, where Feyi Olukanni delivered a mark of 49.90m in the discus to move to No. 1 all-time in program history.
Across the meet, UC San Diego athletes consistently moved up the record books. A total of 22 Tritons posted marks that now rank among the top 10 in program history.
Among the most notable performances, Antrell Harris climbed to No. 2 all-time in the 200 meters with a time of 21.09. Emma Dunmire delivered a 10:33.05 finish in the steeplechase to also rank second in program history, while Dasha Lefaivre's 4:28.24 in the 1,500 meters moved her into the No. 2 spot all-time.
The field events saw similar success. Zach Lewis recorded a throw of 18.14m in the shot put to move into second all-time, and Tamara Aimufia reached 12.48m in the triple jump, also placing her second in program history.
In addition to the record-book movement, 12 Tritons achieved Big West qualifying standards, highlighting the team's depth and continued progression in the outdoor season.

The Tritons will next compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Mt. SAC Relays. The Bryan Clay Invitational will be hosted by Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif., while the Mt. SAC Relays will take place in Walnut, Calif. Both meets are scheduled for Thursday, April 16 through Saturday, April 18.
