LOS ANGELES, Calif. – UC San Diego displayed strong performances on both the men's and women's sides at their latest meet facing UNLV and USC at Uytengsu Aquatic Center.
The Tritons earned 141 points on the men's side to 118, earned by UNLV. On the women's side, the Tritons also beat UNLV, outscoring them 151 to 111. To USC, UC San Diego men fell 174 points to 87. UC San Diego women were topped 189 points to 73.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Zachary Tower had himself a day in the pool winning the 1000 Freestyle (9:08.86) and finishing second in the 500 Freestyle (4:28.25). Following him in the 500 Freestyle,
Charlie Franz placed third (4:49.02).
Bekzhan Yessengeldy won the Tritons another event in the 200 Breaststroke (1:59.48).
Hunter Cehelnik, coming off a strong performance at the Tritons' last meet, placed third in the 100 Freestyle (44.11) and second in the 100 Butterfly (47.00).
Jacob Wang broke into the podium for the 50 Freestyle finishing third (20.56).
Luigi Franco had a second-place finish in the 200 Backstroke. UC San Diego A,
William Seymour,
Adrian Bellido, Cehelnik, and
Zach Elian, placed second in the 200 Medley Relay (1:27.40). Finishing out the meet, Seymour, Wang, Elian, and
Aidan Rikic earned a third-place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay (1:21.33).
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Asia Kozan dominated through her performances, earning herself an NCAA qualifying time in the 200 IM (1:57.12), subsequently breaking a program record in the event. Kozan anchored the 200 Medley Relay with a 22.37 split. In the event she was joined by
Madison O'Connell,
Chloe Braun, and
Eva Boehlke. Kozan then claimed the 200 Butterfly (1:57.56) and placed third with her relay team in the 200 Freestyle (1:32.27), also consisting of O'Connell,
Dani Carter, and
Addison Everage. Boehlke also commanded in her events, winning the 100 Backstroke (53.73) and finishing second in the 200 Backstroke (1:56.99). Braun topped the 100 Breaststroke (1:00.53).

The Tritons will return home for a men's meet against Stanford. The meet will be held at Canyonview Aquatic Center on Friday, Jan. 16th.
