LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego hosted its first competition of 2026 at home in Canyonview Aquatic Center, welcoming Wisconsin, UCLA, and Tulane to a Saturday morning meet.
The Tritons earned a total of 86.5 points on the men's side finishing second to the Wisconsin Badgers who earned 175.5. On the women's side, Wisconsin scored 172 to UC San Diego's 90 points. UCLA earned 176 points to UC San Diego's 85 points. UC San Diego topped Tulane 218.5 to 43.5 points.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
On the women's side,
Chloe Braun claimed the 100 Breaststroke (1:00.63). Additional top three finishes include the 400 Medley Relay (3:36.19).
Eva Boehlke led off for the Tritons, with
Chloe Braun,
Madison O'Connell, then
Asia Kozan following.
Edana Huang claimed second in the 200 Butterfly (2:00.87), followed closely by teammate
Kelsey Leung in third (2:01.37).

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Top three finishes from the men include the 400 Medley Relay (3:14.77), raced by
William Seymour,
Bekzhan Yessengeldy,
Hunter Cehelnik, and
Zach Elian.
Zachary Tower placed third in the 1000 Freestyle (9:09.62).
Luigi Franco clinched third in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:39.36. Seymour earned the Tritons another third-place finish in the 100 Backstroke (48.70).
Adrian Bellido earned second in the 100 Breaststroke (55.36).
Logan Lakis tied for second in the 50 Freestyle (20.67). Cehelnik finished in second during the 100 Freestyle (43.94), trailing first by only 1/100th of a second.
Jacob Wang followed him with a time of 45.29. In the 200 Backstroke Franco claimed second (1:46.04). Yessengeldy claimed his own third-place finish in the 200 Breaststroke (2:03.56). Tower finished third again in the 500 Freestyle (4:28.90). Cehelnik earned the Tritons their only first-place finish on the men's side, coming out on top in the 100 Butterfly (47.05).
Shane Burns finished second in the 200 IM, earning a time of 1:50.88. Finishing out the meet the 200 Freestyle Relay team, comprised of Cehelnik, Seymour, Elian, and
Aidan Rikic, earned second place (1:21.86).

UP NEXT
UC San Diego will travel to Los Angeles, Calif. to face USC and UNLV on Friday, January 9th. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
