IRVINE, Calif. — The final regular season meet of the season for UC San Diego track and field featured several standout performances for the Tritons at the Steve Scott Invitational. The competition was hosted by UC Irvine Friday-Saturday.

Five Tritons reached the qualification standard for The Big West Championship in their final opportunity of the season. Personal bests were set by 26 scholar-athletes.
Allyson Abandonato and
Kate O'Malley both set personal bests in two different events.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Anthony Flowers won the men's 200m with a time of 20.78. He then joined
Brycen Tablit,
Kian Maher and
Brandon Orlow in winning the men's 4x100m relay in 40.26. Both of those marks are new school records.

The Tritons also won both invitational mile races.
Nathan Garderes won the men's event in 4:07.39, while
Sylvana Northrop took the women's event with a time of 4:44.09.

Two more school records were set in distance races. Abandonato finished the 800m in 2:08.88, while
Kelsie Yamano ran 10:26.57 in the 3,000m steeplechase to lower her own school record.

The shot put event was also a highlight for the Tritons.
Feyi Olukanni finished second in the women's event with a mark of 15.10m, and
Cesar Salazar took third in the men's event with a throw of 17.50m.

UP NEXT
The Tritons will make their first appearance at The Big West Championships May 16-17. The meet will be hosted by Long Beach State. The Big West Multis will be a week prior on May 9-10.
