WHAT HEAD COACH FRED HANOVER SAID
"It was the first time this season we put ourselves in position to win a tournament. It was great that we had a chance to play in cold, windy, rainy conditions as we rarely see that in Southern California. I'm optimistic we can continue the good play at UC Davis and the Big West Championship."
TRITON TIDBITS
• It was the fifth-straight year UC San Diego competed in the event.
• Last season the Tritons placed fourth of 18 teams at this tournament.
• There were five Big West teams competing - UC Riverside (tie for 1st), Idaho (6th), UC San Diego (9th), Sacramento State (11th), UC Santa Barbara (14th).
