LA JOLLA, Calif. – Playing at home for the first time in just over a month, the No. 13 UC San Diego men's volleyball team swept Sacred Heart Wednesday evening.
Set scores from LionTree Arena were 25-20, 25-22, and 25-22. With their fourth consecutive win, the Tritons improved to 13-4 on the season.
Sacred Heart, located in Fairfield, Conn., dropped to 3-9.
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Triton opposite
Anthony Cherfan finished with a match-high 14 kills to go along with six digs, three service aces, and a block.Â
Outside hitter
Josh Schellinger was just behind with 12 kills. He hit .409 with just three errors in 22 swings and also had six digs to his credit.
Middle blocker
Peter Selcho had all five of his attack attempts go down for kills. Fellow middle
Nick Rigo had four kills in five attacks.
Overall, the Tritons hit .349 (43-13-86), the 11th time in 17 matches this season that they hit north of .300.
The Pioneers were led by Aleksa Mandic, who finished with six kills. For the match, they hit just .119 with 22 kills and 14 errors in 67 attack attempts.
