AUSTIN, Texas — The first split-squad weekend of the season for UC San Diego track and field wrapped on Saturday with a trio of school records at the Texas Relays. The Tritons also won three events at the Mangrum Invitational, hosted by Cal State San Marcos.

Four Tritons reached Big West qualifying marks for the first time over the weekend. The team also combined to set 13 personal bests.

HOW IT HAPPENED – TEXAS RELAYS
The Texas Relays saw the Tritons face off with some of the best athletes in the country. UC San Diego was featured in eight individual events and seven relays.

Two of the new school records came in relays from the men's track squad. The 4x200m team set one after finishing eighth with a time of 1:24.54.
Brandon Orlow,
Anthony Flowers,
Brycen Tablit and
Kian Maher now have the school record in both the 4x200 and 4x100.

UC San Diego's second school record came in the 4x800m.
Sully Nordheim,
Nathan Garderes,
Shane Badcock and
Kai Dettman ran 7:30.56 to finish fifth.
The women's track squad also broke the school record in the 4x200m.
Kate O'Malley,
Jordyn Thomas,
Lauren Schiele and
Idara Ibekwe finished 11th after clocking in with a time of 1:37.97.

HOW IT HAPPENED – MANGRUM INVITATIONAL
The field squad showed out for the Tritons in San Marcos with three event victories.
Cesar Salazar and
Zach Lewis went 1-2 in men's shot put as both broke both the invitational and stadium record. Salazar won the event with a final distance of 17.39m (57' 0¾").

Tamara Aimufia also set an invitational record in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.04m (39' 6"). She won the event and was joined on the podium by Chidibere Agunanne, who finished second after jumping 11.81m (38' 9").

The Tritons' final event win came in men's long jump.
Marcus Harris soared 6.96m (22' 10") to claim the victory by one inch over the next-closest competitor.

UP NEXT
The Tritons will be at home next weekend for the only time in 2025. The Triton Invitational takes place April 4-5 at Triton Track & Field Stadium.
