LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC San Diego shook off a first set loss and won the next three to defeat UC Santa Barbara, 3-1, Friday night in Big West action at LionTree Arena.
Set scores were 21-25, 25-22, 25-19, and 25-22.
It was the seventh consecutive win for UC San Diego, the team's longest streak as an NCAA Division I program (since 2021).
The 13th-ranked Tritons improve to 16-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Gauchos, ranked 18th nationally, are now 8-10 and 0-2.
The two teams played a week ago in Santa Barbara with the Tritons winning that one in four sets as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED
As has been the case all season, UC San Diego out-hit its opponent, this time holding a .318 (53-19-107) to .292 (52-21-106) advantage.
Three Tritons hit a double-figure kill total with outside Josh Schellinger dropping 14 while outside Leo Pravednikov and middle Peter Selcho each finished with 10. Selcho hit .692 and Schellinger posted a .480 attack. Selcho also had three solo blocks.
Setter Bryce Dvorak had 44 assists, four kills, four digs, three aces, and two blocks (one solo).
Libero Sebastian Lara had a match-best 10 digs.
UCSB was led by Bianchi Geste, who led all players with 20 kills. George Bruening had 13 kills.

• UC San Diego has posted a higher attack percentage than its opponent in 17 of 20 matches.
• It was the 11th match of the season in which the Tritons took on a national top-20 team. They are 7-4 in those contests.
