Akira Isayama placed among the top 30 Tuesday as the Lamkin Invitational finished under windy and rainy conditions at San Diego Country Club.
As a team, UC San Diego placed 15th.
San Diego State hosted the 54-hole tournament with a 16-team field that featured seven schools ranked in the top-50 nationwide.
The par-72Â course was playing at 7,033 yards.
The host Aztecs, ranked 25th in the country, finished 43-under par to win. They shot -11, -12, and -20. No. 33 Colorado was second, 14 strokes back. No. 35 University of San Diego was third, just a single stroke behind the Buffaloes.
The individual winner was San Diego State's Justin Hastings. Ranked 52nd, Hastings finished his outing 16-under par. BYU's Simon Kwon (No. 133) and SDSU's Harry Takis tied for second place, four strokes behind Hastings at 12-under. Notre Dame's Jacob Modleski, the top-ranked player in the field at No. 19, was fourth at 10 under.
Isayama placed 28th after finishing two-under par. He fired rounds of 70, 70, and 74. Teammate
Nathan Tseng also finished in the top 40, taking 37th with an even par 216. Tseng's best round was the second as he totaled a 70, two under par.
With Tuesday's wind and rain, the third round proved to be the toughest as players averaged a 72.32 score. Monday, the first round average was 72.23 followed by a 71.89 in the second. Â
