Tritons Outlast Stanford in Five-Set Road Battle

STANFORD, Calif. –  No. 14 UC San Diego men's volleyball went the distance against No. 8 Stanford Saturday and came out on top, 3-2.

Set scores at Burnham Pavilion were 24-26, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, and 15-11.

The non-conference win moved the Tritons to 12-4 overall and the Cardinal fell to 7-6. 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
For the 10th time this season UC San Diego hit over .300, coming in at .339 with 57 kills and 15 errors in 124 attack attempts.

Stanford hit .254 (60-26-134).

Individually, Anthony Cherfan put down a team-high 18 kills. He was followed by Josh Schellinger with 15. Leo Pravednikov had nine kills while Nick Rigo and Peter Selcho had seven apiece. Libero Keegan Cook led the Tritons with 13 digs.

UC San Diego was solid at the net with 12 blocks. Rigo had eight block assists.

Setter Bryce Dvorak finished with 44 assists.

The Cardinal got a match-high 22 kills from Theo Snoey. Moses Wagner (13) and Nate Clinton (12) also contributed double-figure kill totals.
TRITON TIDBITS
• The last time UC San Diego and Stanford met was in January of 2022 with the Tritons sweeping the Cardinal. 
• It was the fourth five-set match for the Tritons this season. They are 2-2 in those matches.
