FRESNO, Calif. - UC San Diego men's golf finished strong in Tuesday's third and final round at the Nick Watney Invitational, placing fifth of 13 teams with
Nathan Tseng claiming fourth place in the 80 player field.
The tournament was hosted by Fresno State at Sunnyside Country Club. The course is a par 72 and played at 6,938 yards.
The Tritons finished 72 holes at two-under par. After shooting two-over in the first round and one-over in the second, they came out Tuesday and shot five-under to move up three spots in the standings.
Tseng was tied for seventh place at the end of Monday's play. He fired a five-under round and an even round. Today, he shot a 69, three-under, to claim his second top five finish as a Triton.
Akira Isayama also finished among the top 15. He came in to today's round at even par and went three-under, moving him up the leader board 11 spots.
Kyle Dougherty played his way into the top 30, placing 27th at two-over.
Calvin Kong finished in 50th and
Justin Gill came in 53rd.
Leo Cheng, who played as an individual and did not figure in the team scoring, placed 78th.
Fresno State and the University of San Diego tied for first, both 23-under par.
Pacific's Carlos Astiazaran was the individual medalist at 10-under. San Diego's Jaden Cantafio and James Watney of Fresno State tied for second, just one stroke behind the winner.

• There were five Big West teams in contention - Cal Poly, CSUN, Idaho, Sacramento State, and UC San Diego.

• The Tritons last competed in the Nick Watney in 2022. They placed 12th of 16 while
Davis McDowell was the top Triton in 20th (-1).
