BOSTON – UC San Diego junior Leo Beath was named the Lou Henson National Player of the Week on Monday, becoming the third Triton to win the weekly honor and the first this season. The Lou Henson award is presented annually to the top mid-major player in Division I college basketball, as voted on by current and former coaches, athletic directors, and members of the media.
 
Beath was named Most Valuable Player as UC San Diego won the Adventure Bracket at the Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational, leading UC San Diego to three wins in three days at Walt Disney World. Beath averaged 23.7 points per game, shooting 61.9% over three games. He drained 9-of-13 three-point attempts (69.2%) and averaged four rebounds and 1.7 steals per game in the victories over Temple, Bradley, and Towson.
 
At 7-0, UC San Diego is off to its best-ever start as a Division I program. The Tritons continue their road trip Tuesday night at Nevada before beginning Big West play on Saturday evening at Long Beach State.
